Salvation Army’s General Policies
The Salvation Army is a church and a registered charity in England and Wales that provides support to all in need. The Salvation Army’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army does a lot of good work in the community, but they have some specific policies in place regarding what they will and will not pick up.
What Salvation Army will and will not take
The Salvation Army is one of the world’s largest providers of social services. The Salvation Army exists to meet human needs without discrimination. Some items we are unable to take due to safety, resettlement, or other reasons.
-We are unable to take baby cribs, car seats, or strollers due to safety reasons
-We are unable to take paint or chemicals of any sort due to the resettlement process
-We are unable to take Large appliances such as fridges or ovens.
-Furniture that is too large or bulky for us to move is also not something we can take.
However, here is a list of items we *can* take:
-Clothing for all ages and genders
-Shoes and accessories
-Household items such as pots, pans, dishes, silverware, small appliances, etc.
-Linens such as towels, sheets, blankets, etc.
-Toys that are in good condition
-Books
-Furniture that is small enough for our team to move
Where to take items
The Salvation Army only picks up items that are in good, working condition. If you have an item that is in need of repair, please take it to a local repair shop or our Family Store nearest you. Our drivers are not allowed to enter homes or apartments to pick up items. Items must be located near the outside of the building (i.e. garage, carport, or driveway).
Furniture Donation Guidelines
Salvation Army is a charity organization that has many locations across the United States. They accept donations of furniture, clothing, and other household items. They will even pick up the items from your home. Here are some guidelines on what they will and will not accept.
Types of furniture Salvation Army will take
The Salvation Army will take most types of furniture, including:
-couches
-loveseats
-chairs
-recliners
-tables
– dressers
-coffee tables
-end tables
– bookshelves
Furniture that is not accepted
Here is a list of furniture items that the Salvation Army will not pick up:
-Mattresses
-Box springs
-Waterbeds
-Particle board furniture
-Pianos

How to Schedule a Pick Up
Donation pick-ups from The Salvation Army are a free service provided to help collect and transport donated goods from homes and businesses. We accept a wide variety of items in good, working condition including but not limited to clothes, furniture, appliances, and small household goods. If you have larger items such as pianos or tractor-trailers, please contact your local Salvation Army for assistance.
Online
The Salvation Army’s website provides an online form to request a free pick up of your donated items. You will need to provide your name, address, contact information, and the type and quantity of items you have available for donation. The Salvation Army will then contact you to schedule a pick up time.
By phone
The best way to schedule a pick up is by phone. You can contact The Salvation Army National Headquarters at 1-800-725-2769 to speak with a customer service representative.
