The Confederate Army also referred to as the Southern Army, Rebel Army, or simply the Confederates, fought against the United States of America during the Civil War. The Confederate Army was led by General Robert E. Lee.

The General of the Army of Northern Virginia was the commander of the Confederate army that fought in the American Civil War. The position was held by General Robert E. Lee for most of the war.

Who Was the General of the Confederate Army?
The Confederate army was led by General Robert E. Lee. General Lee was born in Virginia in 1807. He became a military officer in the U.S. Army in 1829 and served in the Mexican-American War. In 1859, he resigned from the U.S. Army to take command of the Virginia state militia forces.
General Robert E. Lee
Robert E. Lee was the general of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. He is best known for his military leadership and strategic prowess, leading the Confederate Army to many key victories against Union forces. After the war, he continued to serve as a military consultant and educator, and was eventually named President of Washington College (now Washington and Lee University). He died in 1870 at the age of 63.
General Albert Sidney Johnston
Albert Sidney Johnston served as the general-in-chief of the Confederate army during the American Civil War. Johnston was born in Kentucky and fought in the Mexican-American War and the Utah War before leading Confederate troops in battle during the Civil War. Johnston was fatally wounded during the Battle of Shiloh in 1862, and his death was a significant blow to the Confederate war effort.
General Braxton Bragg
Born in Warrenton, North Carolina, Braxton Bragg was a career military officer who fought in the Mexican-American War and served as a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He is best known for his role in the Battle of Shiloh and his highly controversial tenure as Commander of the Army of Tennessee.
